1st snow of 2012-13

Wow, I have neglected this blog...The entire summer passed. I guess I was caught up in the heat, the Waldo Canyon Fire and travels. The summer was particularly hot this year. It got hot early and stayed hot through August and September. But, here we are today with our 1st snow on the ground. It started dumping giant, fluffy flakes last night with some strong, gusty winds. We didn't wind up w/much accumulation, but it made everything shiny & pretty ;)

We managed to catch a glimpse of the trees changing at Mueller State Park last month. That was our 1st time visiting that park. They have a nice nature trail for kids and an equestrian trail.

Real rain!!

Finally, a real rain falling outside, some thunder, some lightning. The grass should be happy now. I can't remember seeing rain like this in April, but it is nice :)

Summer preview

Wow, what an amazing weekend. Record-breaking temperatures. It was 81F yesterday! ...and it's currently 44F today. I'm still hoping we get some precipitation but it doesn't look like that will happen. We've already turned the irrigation system on since the plants & trees are in bloom.

We went to the Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum in Denver last week. I didn't know it existed until I saw some pictures that a friend had shared on-line. It's not a huge museum, but a nice collection, especially if you have any interest in aviation or space. There's also a replica Star Wars X-wing fighter w/R2D2 on board.

Where was Winter? Spring 2012

Pear tree blossom

Not enough snow.
Not cold enough.
Two things I never thought I'd say, but where was Winter? Spring has officially started and we haven't had a good snow in over a month. All of the trees are budding, the grass is getting green again. We're doing more winter-watering. I hope this doesn't mean we'll have a hot, dry Summer, too.
